Abstract
Focusing on Music education in our schools, the traditional practice of restricting Dùndún
musicianship to specific families in Yoruba land, where apprenticeship often required initiation
or affiliation, risk of involving in ritual making before you can study the art can now go to an
extinction. Empirical approach was adopted and tutorial class was organized to carry out the
field research made by the researcher in his studies to transfer knowledge gained from his
consultant. A course outline was designed to study G ngan drum within a semester which was
tested and yielded good result. A curriculum can be developed to capture the art of Dùndún
musicianship in our schools to prevent cultural extinction and enhance cultural preservation.
